HALO BRITISH DOWNHILL SERIES 2011
3 minute gaps by Clay porter coming June 2k11!

The new Team on the block Madison Saracen has an average age of just 17 years old. What do they all have in common the ability to win races, it may be a young team but it is a team with some of the best up and coming riders in the uk at the moment.

Welcome
For all things to do with the Halo British Downhill Series.
I think we can all agree that the Halo British Downhill Series in 2010 was one of the most exciting and successful ever. Changing the name of the series helped, this attracted bigger sponsors, which intern meant more money for both the facilitation of the series and the prize,s. The amount of support at each event for riders was another plus free mechanical assistance, bike set up, Medical care and the list goes on
I,like the 300+ riders who will be signing on for the 2011 season are looking forward to what will be another fantastic year in the Halo British Downhill series history.....Looking forward to catching you on the slopes in 2011....good luck to you all from foto4u
Round 1
The 2011 Halo BDS round one has been and gone, if you were not there you missed a great weekend. The facilities were very good, the track not to everyones liking to start with, though once most people had got there four/fifth run in, there were more likes than not likes.
The track
The track was split into two halfs with the top section being very technical with some very tight turns, plenty of roots and large stones meaning the riders line changed every time they took another run. This was followed by a straight'ish run to the line with plenty of peddling some would say it ws even slightly up hill!! The weather just about held out on Saturday with most of the day being overcast, as the evening drew to a close the wind got up followed by the rain. There were a few gazbo casualties Sunday morning but nothing too series.
Race day The Sunday morning was never going to be the best the rain from the evening before had slowed to a drizzle and the temperature had dropped, the course was now a little sticky and slippy in places. Seedings were cancelled after an accident on course. The race runs started at 2pm and went without a hitch. Marc Beamount started the season exactly as he finished last year taking first place by a good 4 seconds followed by Alex Bond in second and steve Peat in third. Manon Carpenter took the Womans elite win by 3 tenths of a second over Fionn Griffths in second and National Champ Jess Stone in Third
Verdict
The season has got off to a good start if i was to be disapointed by anything it would be the podiums at the end. I know a lot of people travelled a long way to get to the venue, some may have work the next day but for the sake of another 40 minutes?

Marc Beaumont continues last years form with another win

Alex's winter trainng pays off with a second place in the first round of the Halo BDS

Peaty's wobble at the end may have cost him First place at Nant G but he still managed a respectable 3rd place
